GdS: Kalulu, Adli and four others at risk of Milan exit – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

With a change in head coach comes the risk that some players may no longer be deemed a fit for the club’s project, and this applies to several members of the AC Milan squad.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, nobody is truly unsellable in the Milan side as the Sandro Tonali case showed, but some are certainly closer to the exit door than others.

Alessandro Florenzi is one of the leading candidates to leave, given the 33-year-old has a year on his deal and didn’t seem to get on well with Paulo Fonseca at Roma.

Remaining in defence, there is no certainty about Malick Thiaw’s fate. It is a question mark created after a season in which the German – although hampered by injuries – did not develop as hope. A tempting price for Milan could be around €40m and Pierre Kalulu’s situation is a ‘carbon copy’.

In midfield Ismael Bennacer seems increasingly tempted by a move to Saudi Arabia, and while he has a €50m release clause it is only valid for club abroad and applicable for the first two weeks of July. Milan are looking for a signing with more defensive characteristics, and Bennacer could be let go of.

Yacine Adli’s future is also in the balance, given he alternates impressive performances with less convincing ones, but it is unlikely he and Bennacer both leave. Tommaso Pobega also has little certainty, and in a 4-2-3-1 system he might find no playing time, with clubs interested.

  1. Why sell Kalulu and bring some nobody from Totenham who is older to take his place. Also if you sell Adli why not keep Maldini as a back up for AM. I have no idea what this clowns are doing with the transfers but it seems like they just want to rotate players around. Won’t be supricsed if there is some financial scheme behind it. The club is already under investigation for some suspicious transactions tho.

  2. So are we planning to sell all the Italian players we have on the team, Florenzi is most certainly leaving so is Pobega. After we sign Emerson Calabria, we will be the next in line to go.

  3. Sometimes these news papers print rubbish, when they don’t have anything to print, they lie, from Ibrahimovic’s interview, you get a glimpse of where the club is heading to, it’s only Florenzi’s time at the club that’s up, due to his age and the arrival of Emerson, Fonseca is a calm person , and he wants to see the players first hand before he begins to chop up the team, any right thinking Coach would do that..
