GdS: Kjaer reaffirmed his importance to Milan with display against Monza

By Oliver Fisher -

Danish defender Simon Kjaer showed just how important he can be to AC Milan with his solid display against Monza last weekend.

As has been highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport , Kjaer has been dealt his fair share of setbacks whilst at Milan and it has led to people forgetting just how solid a defender he can be.

Having not played for the last three months thanks to a serious injury, Kjaer was deployed from the first whistle against the Brianzoli thanks to the lack of fit defenders at the club right now.

He made some important early interventions, the rest being taken care of by another great Mike Maignan performance.

With his contract expiring at the end of this season, Kjaer has shown Milan why they should still be considering keeping him for longer. That being said, the fact he was missing for three months shows the other side of the argument.

He is the most experienced defender at the club and he showed why he can be of immense use to Stefano Pioli, but only if he stays fit.

  1. He looked better than I thought he would after such a long layoff. And in that back three with Tomori/Simic he looked good. I want to see that experiment again against Salernitana
