Mike Maignan asked Stefano Pioli if he would let him play against Fiorentina, a report claims, showing his commitment to AC Milan’s cause.
Maignan now seems to be closing in on a return to action after having initially been given a 10-week recovery period following surgery on his wrist. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Maignan could incredibly make his return on Sunday against Sassuolo, a full four weeks before he was expected to come back.
The paper even adds though that the Frenchman would have liked to return to the field against Fiorentina over the weekend. Despite not having much training practice, the former Lille goalkeeper apparently asked Pioli about the possibility of letting him play against La Viola.
Obviously the coach denied this possibility so as not to risk a possible relapse, with zero intention of throwing him back into the fold until he is fully healed and as sharp as he can be.
