GdS: Maldini and Ibrahimovic had phone call to discuss altercation with Inter’s Lukaku

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a phone conversation with Paolo Maldini in the aftermath of Tuesday night’s game against Inter.

It was certainly not an evening without incident at San Siro as Ibrahimovic got into a heated altercation with Romelu Lukaku which saw the pair come head to head and exchange some very personal insults.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), there was a phone call between Maldini and Ibrahimovic in the aftermath of the Coppa Italia derby.

The Milan technical director wanted an explanation from the Swede as to what happened with Lukaku and received an explanation of the facts. The paper adds how – barring surprises – there shouldn’t be a fine issued against Ibrahimovic.

The decision of the Sporting Judge on what happened is expected tomorrow, and it is possible that the Federal Prosecutor could open an investigation into the incident, but referee Paolo Valeri’s match report suggests it is unlikely.
