GdS: Maldini decides to push for signing of Real Madrid playmaker after performance vs. Juventus

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have no doubts about wanting to keep Brahim Diaz and intend to negotiate with Real Madrid, according to a report.

Brahim was excellent during the 3-0 win over Juventus last night, scoring the opening goal and generally orchestrating play well from the frontline alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan are no longer in doubt as Paolo Maldini and his collaborators want to open talks about keeping the playmaker, at least for the 2021-2022 season.

The player is already highly esteemed by Pioli and would be doubly useful for the next season. He would primarily function as an alternative to the starters, as already seen this season, but in the event that Hakan Calhanoglu leaves then the 21-year-old would represent an ideal substitute.

However, Real Madrid does not intend to sell the jewel of Malaga so easily. In particular, Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of Brahim Diaz and could bring him back to the squad. The permanence of Zidane on the Real bench is not certain though, so Milan are ready to propose a renewal of the loan until June 2022, perhaps with the inclusion of an option to buy.
