GdS: Maldini reflecting on future with Boban’s sacking imminent – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

Zvonimir Boban will officially leave Milan in the next few hours, but the future of Paolo Maldini is reportedly unclear at present.

That is according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) on Wednesday morning, who are claiming that Stefano Pioli will certainly remain as head coach until the end of the season.

The paper notes how a few weeks ago, Maldini had said he was against the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, who barring sensational surprises will land at Milan in the summer to fill the role of head coach and sporting director.

As a result, the former full-back is pondering and considering what to do after Boban’s farewell, knowing that if he stays he will have to agree on the conditions that will be set by Elliott and CEO Ivan Gazidis.

In the summer, when the American fund offered him Leonardo’s position at the helm of the technical side of Milan, Maldini thought about it a lot, evaluating the pros and cons and above all the room for manoeuvre that he would have had.

Eventually he accepted and in a few months the situation could repeat itself even if it is clear that, with the arrival of Rangnick, the operating margins will be reduced.

Paolo reflects and for now remains in his place, also because someone will have to accompany Pioli and the Rossoneri team from here to the end of the season. Then in the summer there will be a new revolution.
