GdS: Manduzkic and Ibrahimovic could both start vs. Inter as the Swede asks for support

AC Milan could choose to field Mario Mandzukic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the first minute against Inter, a report claims.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport recalls, Ibrahimovic’s words after the 3-0 defeat to Atalanta on Saturday served as a warning: “In the first half I felt alone, when I get the ball one has to stay close to me. But no, it didn’t happen.”

The paper (via MilanNews) notes that if there is a team-mate he believes can fill the void that was present against the Bergamo side in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia derby, it is Mario Mandzukic.

Seeing them both on the pitch against Inter could be a solution, with the Swede as the centre-forward and Mandzukic on the left wing but playing close to him. Despite not having played for ten months, Mandzukic showed a good physical condition on Saturday.

He does not have 90 minutes in his legs yet, but seeing him start tomorrow cannot be ruled out. Pioli himself hinted that he is willing to give it a go: “There are two paths to take. Or put him in immediately, or give him three or four weeks to recover the optimal condition. We choose the first.”
