GdS: Milan are ‘already crazy about Giroud’ – the Frenchman shows his repertoire

By Oliver Fisher -

It was a perfect home debut for Olivier Giroud as he scored twice and helped Milan to a resounding 4-1 win over Cagliari last night.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how the Milan fans ‘are already crazy about Giroud’ as the Frenchman sent a message last night with a wonderful sweeping finish and a calmly despatched penalty which shows he is ready to steal the show.

The No.9 had caused difficulty for those who wore it before Giroud but the curse had no effect on the 34-year-old, who is a centre-forward who has shown he can fill the area even when Zlatan Ibrahimovic is missing. He showed his repertoire on Sunday night too, contributing not only with goals but with his hold-up play and movement.

When Ibrahimovic is ready to come back the ball will obviously pass to Pioli. A Milan with Ibrahimovic and Giroud up front is a fascinating prospect, but it will be the pitch that will tell if the two can really coexist from the beginning.
