GdS: AC Milan’s current starting XI with the addition of Reijnders

By Isak Möller -

Next week, AC Milan will travel to the United States for their pre-season tour and Stefano Pioli will have a decent squad to rely on. Tijjani Reijnders will likely be the final addition before the tour, and thus we can take a look at the XI.

Reijnders is expected to arrive in Italy on Monday/Tuesday to undergo his medical tests, before signing the contract with Milan. Meanwhile, the players that were on international duty in June will return to Milanello on Wednesday (such as Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud).

In short, Pioli will have a decent squad to rely on for the pre-season tour and that is very important, seeing as he wants to test the 4-3-3 formation as soon as possible. The more time he gets to build the team, the better.

Milan will face Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona during the tour and the first game is scheduled for July 23rd. It will be played in the middle of the night for us Europeans, but for the Americans it will be perfect.

      1. Why would I support Fiorentina when I am a Milan fan? Stop projecting your pathetic lack of being a man onto me. You think being a fan is saying everything is cool even if you don’t like it? Of course you do, because you’re a coward.

        1. I speak for all real Milan fans when I say I can’t wait to see you eat your words. Though j doubt you’d show yourself here if Milan do well.

        2. You speak for yourself. “Real Milan fans” 😂😂😂 You don’t need to doubt anything, I’m not a coward like you. Like I’ve said, stop trying to project what you would do…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      2. Listen, he’s got a point! Krunic can’t and shouldn’t not be a starter! He has to be on the bench. And we need someone who’s proven goal-scorer. I like Taremi more than the other names!

        1. Just consider this.
Ruben Loftus Cheek – Reijnders- Krunic vs
          Frattesi – Calhanoglu – Barella.

I already know how it ends, you might as well replace Krunic with Musah, it won’t help.

          1. I like how ppl think these signings make us better than Inter for some strange reason. 🤷‍♂️
Plus add in two more.mids as they play a 352 lol

    1. You want to back to a midfield three of Tonali, Krunic and Diaz again? Because I sure as hell don’t. This midfield is already better than last season’s provided everyone stays relatively fit. Plus, we probably have another one or two signings still to come in the midfield. If we get a solid right-wing player, you’re going to look like a fool.

      1. Which 3? Milan didn’t really play with 3 in midfield when Diaz was playing. Sold Tonali that was great defensively whatever anyone says and he played all the minutes and replaced him with Reijnders who isn’t really someone who defends well and doesn’t have big leagues experience and Ruben Loftus Cheek, an injury prone talent at 27. Reijnders is unkown, who knows how will he do, what if he fails like I expect him to do? Who is playing instead? What about when (not if, when) RLC gets injured, who is playing?

I wanted a good midfield that can hold its own against anyone and these guys will be destroyed by Inter midfield. Juventus midfield is world class when compared to this. I can go on.

        1. You’re judging them without them having even played a game together yet. We don’t know what RLC will be like, or Pulisic. Reijnders is probably my favourite signing. He has everything you could want from a midfielder. But it’s all an unkown.

They did play with three in the middle, with one always more advanced than the other. We had games with Bennacer, Tonali and bloody Krunic as the attacking midfielder at times. It was horrific. Our midfield was already garbage and worse than all the other top teams in Serie A, it can only improve. Bennacer is also injury prone, and we were stuck with the most overrated player in Italy with Tonali for most of the season. Once again, we still have a few players still to come, so how you can make these calls this early on is beyond me…

      2. Forgot to add – RCL breaking season is next one. Always the next one. For the past 6 years. He is about to become the player he is but he never does.

  2. Needless for these exchange of insults.
We just need make do with what we have got for now hoping also that twil work a formidable team for us.
I’m glad to welcome reijnders to the winning team.

  3. Replace RLC with yunus musah or dominques also krunic replace with bennacer ( if he already fit to play ) and we are good on midfield . RLC & krunic just for depth / rotation

  4. Hello Isak Möller

In a 4-3-3 formation, Reijnders will play in Krunic’s position.

That’s why in very sure we will sign a proper DM to play in the middle if we were to play a 4-3-3 formation next season.

However, in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Reijnders and RLC can play as the double pivot.

I find it hard to imagine Reijnders playing the DM in a 4-3-3 formation.

  5. Musah and Reinjers are great ball carriers. Defensively Musah and RLC will support. I much prefer a midfield that breaks up play and carry the ball forward which is what this new midfield can do for us. If I had it my way I’ll get Kamada as creative midfielder and shift Pulisic to the RW. Then our only headache would be to get someone to support Giroud up front. Like Isaksen, Emegha, or some other youngster we can groom. Maybe a better back up player for Theo and we should be set for the season. Forza Milan
