GdS: Milan evaluating future of defensive duo as Genoa come forward with strong interest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are weighing up the sale of two defenders as Genoa have expressed an interest in signing both, a report claims.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), the Rossoneri are evaluating the interest in two players: namely Mattia Caldara – who has returned from an 18-month loan at Atalanta – and full-back Andrea Conti who has come back from Parma.

Atalanta decided not to use their option to buy on the former and he has returned to base, with director Paolo Maldini now looking to find him a new destination, while it is the same situation for Conti as Parma did not trigger their option to buy nor was it made an obligation as they were relegated to Serie B.

Genoa seem to have a strong interest in both players as the Grifone are determined to bolster their rearguard ahead of next season, so both profiles are being evaluated as well as that of the Moroccan defender Mehdi Benatia. Milan are now waiting for concrete offers and then will decide whether to sell, but it seems both are destined to depart.
