GdS: Milan have not given up on Lyon star Depay as rebuild is eyed in attack

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Lyon star Memphis Depay in the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

It is seemingly no secret that the Rossoneri are scouring the market for options to bolster an attack which struggled hugely for goals prior to the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose stay beyond the summer is uncertain.

It was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport last month that Milan are ready to step up interest in Netherlands international Memphis Depay, a player Rangnick approves of in terms of his characteristics.

Lyon need to make money after the early closure of the Ligue 1 season, which has entailed both economic damage to the club and has essentially confirmed they will miss out in UEFA competitions next season.

According to an update from Tuesday’s edition of the same newspaper – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Milan are still considering the possibility of making an approach to sign Depay once the season ends.

Depay has 53 goals and 43 assists for Lyon in 134 appearances since his move to France, as per Transfermarkt.
