GdS: Milan-Inter fixtures expected to break box office record twice

The first leg of the Champions League semi-final between AC Milan and Inter has officially sold out and it should result in a new box office record in terms of revenues.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) the game should make history in Italian football as the amount of revenue from ticket sales should go beyond the €10m mark which would be a first.

The game between Milan and Spurs on May 10 resulted in takings of €9,133,842, thus becoming the football match with the highest gross takings ever in Italian football. The Rossoneri won that 1-0 and secured progress to face Napoli, but the proceeds were not as high from that game.

However, the new record that should be set on Wednesday could last less than a week because Inter have set higher ticket prices than those of their city rivals and therefore – if another sell out occurs – the proceeds could and should be even higher.
