GdS: Milan eye loan swoop of PSG midfielder amid talks with Mendes

By Isak Möller -

Many reinforcements are expected this summer, with the attack being a priority, but AC Milan could also sign a defensive midfielder. According to a report, Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte has ended up on their radar.

Ugarte joined PSG ahead of the current season in a €60m deal from Sporting Lisbon, signing a five-year contract with the club. He has made 35 appearances this season but hasn’t always been a regular starter, sparking rumours of a potential move this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan have made it a priority to reinforce the midfield with a defensive player. Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana is a player they appreciate a lot, but he’s not the only one on their radar.

Ugarte’s name has also gathered steam as of late and given Milan’s constant contact with Jorge Mendes, the agent of Sergio Conceicao and the Uruguayan midfielder, they could plot a move. Since the price tag is very high at €60m, the solution could be a loan move of some sort.

Everything will depend on the stance of the French side, but it’s clear that Milan have started enquiring about several players ahead of the summer. The new manager, whoever it may be, will also have a say in the matter.

  1. Ugarte would be great but surely outside our price range. Better to stick with someone cheaper like Amrabat for DM, so we can afford our CB /Striker targets

    1. How exactly is this Moncada’s fault. You do realise this is all speculation right, or are you the type of person that would believe the moon is cheese if you read it in a book?

  2. Mendes keeps pushing his clients to Milan. This is NOT a good thing. He’s a b|tch to negotiate renewals with.
