The pre-season has begun and Stefano Pioli is currently working with his squad at Milanello to get ready for the upcoming campaign. Among other things, he could change the formation.
Milan have made many changes to the squad and more are expected still, meaning Pioli will have to evaluate the player material. The 4-2-3-1 formation was his favourite this past season but he might switch to the 4-3-3, as per Gazzetta Dello Sport (see below).
Brahim Diaz has left and Charles De Ketelaere could also depart, but Milan are still focused on signing a right-winger after Christian Pulisic (who can play on both flanks). Therefore, Pioli could switch to the 4-3-3 for the upcoming season.
A lot will depend on the final signings on the market and also the pre-season performances. However, it’s clear that Pioli is heading into the new season with an open mind and willingness to select the best formation for the squad.
If he really come, Danjuma won’t come for RW.
Krunic is a good backup and squad player, but he is not starting material.
If we sign one more mid – Musah – then that ends the mystery. It will be a 4-3-3. We aren’t spending 60M plus (RLC, Musah, Reijders) to leave these players on the bench. Krunic & Pobega the backups for now and Benny (when he returns) on the bench to start until he returns to form which won’t be until after January. That means Pulsic will be our RW with Sales as back up (or Isaksen) if we sell Sales/Messias.
Pulisic wasn’t signed for RW.
Krunic isn’t a starting player. And we definitely aren’t playing 4-2-3-1 anymore as that was exposed multiple times last season. The double pivot doesn’t work any longer.
So I really believe we are signing another midfielder or two.

Pioli you can understand that Krunich’s quality isn’t for Milan, he’s quality is in Serie B or C
Pobega, Krunich, Mesias, Rebich, Gabia and so on !!!
Krunich is underrated and quality player. I like him very much!
People should stop talking like they are coach or smth.
Midfield is a question mark and I have serious doubts if it will be better than last season. Reijnders seems like a good player but RLC and Musah are average players imo.
Leao, Taremi, Pulisic will be an amazing front line if we can pull it off though.
