GdS: Milan offer full support to Adli with midfielder expected to stay

AC Milan are set to keep Yacine Adli at the club this summer despite constant links with a move away from the Rossoneri, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), the midfielder is going to be a part of the squad and has the full support of Stefano Pioli.

He has been linked with both loan moves and permanent moves given he had so little involvement in 2022/23 and many new midfielders have arrived at the club.

It was reported by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it earlier in August that Pioli has changed his stance on Adli and wants to keep him as a part of the project.

The Milan management were less convinced by this idea but they appear to have granted Pioli his wish. The coach feels that his tactical versatility can come in useful this season and he can be a deputy for Rade Krunic.

    1. Yeah, cause those few minutes we actually did see him play were unbearable, right? Not like Brahim Diaz for example, whose genius was always a joy to watch.

  1. We all see thing differently. Personally I hope they prepare him how to behave playing as a regista because with the potential he has he can be the player that makes us control a midfield in terms of possession. However if Pioli is serious about him then it will still take time before we se him on the pitch because he isn’t subbing Krunic of.

  2. WARNING – not a comparison by any means so hold your tits!

Pirlo was also considered a CAM player before he was deployed in a deep lying role. The rest is history.

    1. Did you just compare Adli to Pir…nah just kidding, couldn’t agree more. He’s got composure and great touch on the ball, if he could become more defensively aware as far as positioning goes, he could be pretty handy in that deep lying role

    2. I see what you’re saying regarding attributes (not ability of course) it’s a fair point.

However Pirlo had a true DM eg the likes of Gattuso (or sometimes Ambrosini) alongside him, so he wasn’t fully responsible for the defensive side. From what I’ve seen so far, neither Reijnders or RLC are that type of player, so can Adli be both a deep lying playmaker and a workhorse breaking up attacks? Seems a LOT to ask of the boy.

Dominguez has basically signed for Notts Forest so I’m not sure if we just have a slightly imbalanced midfield at least til Jan.

Could be entertaining! We likely concede a few extra goals but score a lot more. I think it might cost us against the top UCL teams but could well be effective in Serie A especially against the supposedly weaker teams.

      Forza Milan

      1. Exactly, Adli would need someone to cover his behind same as Pirlo had Gattuso. Don’t know if RLC, Musah or Pobega are capable of stepping in.

    3. Lol 😂😂😂😂
“Ted you put Pirlo and Adli in the same sentence.. THEREFORE you’re comparing Pirlo to Adli? What a fool” – Typical Commenter on this site
      LMAO 😂

  3. At least this guy know how to handle a football compared to Pobega who is miles behind the rest of the team when it comes to ball control and technique.

    1. pobega can shoot with both his feet equally good so its not like he is without any technical ability quite the contrary, just look at his left footed goal against bologna last season that got us a 1-1 draw after we were down 0-1

        1. yep the evidence is there for all to see and later on in the video pobega also shows great ball wining ability and then quickly starts a run forrward with the ball 😀

        1. absolutely he gets stomped on his foot, even though i had forgot about it, after reseeing it after looking up the video i certainly remember being angry after that match but we have had a lot of weird var decisions going against us in recent years,

          1. Particularly last year we should have had more pens. Not that I’m all about pens but it seemed like because we were champs somehow we had to less called for us. If it’s a pen it’s a pen, and it cost us many points, plain and simple…. and then we didn’t have to hear about us being 5th lol 😂.

    2. Pobega is different type of players to adli. u compare pobega to reindeer and RLC, and tonali. then u compare adli with krunic and bennacer.

for example, we used to compare tonali to pirlo so we put tonali on regista. then he sucks. after that he kept telling he is like gattuso + technical skill. after that we play him like mezalla and Box to box, he shines.

adli would be a great regista, but thing is pioli’s regista needs to defend well with 2 attacking midfielder leaving the central mid to form a trident shaped attack. If adli can defend too, we will have a golden regista for another 14 years. unless we sold him like tonali ofc

  4. Lol. Adli staying due to Pioli’s request. The irony.
I’m a believer in Adli’s ability yes, but I would bolt right out if I were him. The best it can get for him under Pioli is it would be less worse than last season.

  5. Stranger things have happened.

Pioli has a record of evvvvveeerrrrr sooooo slowly introducing new players (which makes it even more bizarre that he’s been given half a new squad).

It has taken him over a year in the past. At this rate Okafor might need to wait until next season to get a game. LOL

    1. Did you watched Bologna and Torino match cause Pioli already played Okafor at minute 73th and 66th. I’m sure Pioli will play him more with three competitions and tight schedule ahead.

And as you know, Pulisic, RLC, Reijnders, Chuk, and Musah already played too. That’s left Romero and Pellegrino which will takes some time considering they are the deputy of Pulisic and Theo who are currently playing really well. But they will play when the time is right.

So i don’t think Pioli have ‘slow record’ of introducing new players. And compare to other Milan manager in the last decade, i believe Pioli have better record of introducing new and young players.

  6. If Adli gets his act together in transition to defend,he’ll be miles ahead of Krunic. Reading the comments it is obvious this sport is a bit too complicated for some….
