GdS: Milan pencil in Jovic renewal talks – what both parties might ask for

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Jovic has been in excellent form since the start of December and the AC Milan management are concretely thinking about renewing his contract, a report claims.

As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) writes, Jovic is proving to everyone that he is worthy of a club like Milan and that they were right to take a punt on him on deadline day in the summer mercato.

He has seven goals in 19 appearances, at an average of one every 103 minutes. It began against Frosinone early in December then he scored against Atalanta on 9 December, against Salernitana before Christmas, against Udinese at the end of January and against Frosinone two days ago.

Three of those four goals were decisive. In Salerno the Serbian netted the equaliser, the same in Udinese, and then at the weekend he bagged a winner inside the final ten minutes.

Milan are left smiling having signed him on a free transfer from Fiorentona on a deal worth €2m net per season, but his contract – like that of Olivier Giroud – expires at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri can renew it for another season but the management and Jovic’s agent will have to talk because the striker could ask for a change in salary and Milan, aware of having contributed to his rebirth, may rebuff that attempt.

Above all, together they will discuss whether to move to a more classic contract, i.e. not just a one-year renewal. The next few months will be telling, but this story is unlikely to drag on until the end of June.

    1. Just FYI, CDK has far more goals and assists this year than Jovic does.

Reijnders – Hella bad pass merchant.

      Musha – Not talented enoguh.

Jovic – Good but a slow backup. He’s more of a poacher at this point.
RLC – Good but fitness/injury still an issue.

Chukuwueze – has done absolutely nothing. I hope he grows but he’s been terrible this year.

Terraciano – who just gave up the PK that lost us points. Maybe for the future but terrible now.

Okafor – Injured often. Has played well when available. Pioli thinks he’s a LW but no one else in the world does. That scares me.

Pulisic – the only real bright spot in the entire campaign.

Others are youngsters and should either be sent on loan or in youth group.

So yes, Moneyball Moncada has done absolutely horrible job with the money from Tonali’s sale. Milan’s player valuations overall have decreased significantly as well. You do the math, Einstein.

      1. The point you’re making is a bit pointless, if you actually checked the form, were still on par with our Scudetto winning season at this stage, we are doing WAY better than we did last season, so why insult our players when they are actually playing well even with no defenders available? Are you here to troll or support the team, because even against the odds we are still 3rd quite comfortably. Did you forget we technically didn’t even qualify for the Champions League last season, we finished 5th, so there is clear progress. Don’t make a fool of yourself.
