GdS: ‘It’s over’ – Milan give Pioli the bad news but now a negotiation will follow

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are expected to tell the world that Stefano Pioli’s work at the club is done before the match against Salernitana but there will then be negotiations over the terms of his dismissal.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (seen below), the press release confirming that Pioli is to leave the club at the end of the season should arrive shortly before the match against Salernitana, which is the Rossoneri’s last of the campaign.

There is still one year to run on Pioli’s existing contract, which means an agreement has to be found on the money that he will no longer earn from that final year.

The thought process behind releasing the news before the Salernitana game is that Pioli can then have a proper farewell with the fans at San Siro, having already been told personally that time is up.

It is believed that Pioli’s final year at the club, should he have seen it out, would have cost just under €10m. Milan do not want to pay that big amount and they will start negotiating a deal with Pioli.

Milan want to agree on a severance package and there is still a good relationship between the hierarchy and Pioli meaning a deal should not be hard to strike.

  1. Sacking Pioli and paying him his severance, whatever it is, just to hire Fonseca.

That’ll go down as one of the dumbest, most id*otic thing in the history of this club.

          1. Sure, could be. For now we can already congratulate Inter or Juventus… Or Napoli… Maybe Atalanta? Anyways, congratulate them on winning 24/25 Scudetto.

  2. I don’t understand this management, there is Conte, Motta, Conceicao,Flick, Pochettino even De Zerbi and they went after Fonseca.. maybe Moncanda and Furliani are genius and we are all idiots or the other way around.

    1. Motta 99% goes to Juve.
De Zerbi isnt any better than Pioli or Fonseca. There is a reason he was sacked at a mid-table team..
Conte is an as*ole. He might get us scudetto, but team will disband in 2years of he comes here
Conceicao extended his contract, there might be some issue as they changed the president of the club, but he will stay probably.
The only valid options wouid be Flick or Pochettino.

    2. It’s pretty clear if you look at previous statments. The management wants a coach who isn’t expensive (we’re talking no more than 4M per year) and who will be pretty much in their pockets and doesn’t disagree or complain if they sell a big player and purchase a bunch of no-names.
Conte is too expensive and will likely ask for some names and completly change the squad (from 4-2-3-1 to a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3).
Motta might be expensive and is pretty much lost anyways since we acted late.
Conceicao might ask for some conessions (pun intended)….
