GdS: Milan player ratings from Sassuolo draw – entire attack misfires badly

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were far from at their best as they dropped points away from home for the second game in a row, with Sassuolo holding them to a 0-0 draw.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport carries the ratings from the game, starting with the team overall getting a 5.5 and head coach Stefano Pioli receiving a score of 6 out of 10.

Mike Maignan was the man of the match and got a 7 for his vital penalty save to keep the score 0-0, while the flop was Rafael Leao who only got a 5 having started brightly then struggling to assert himself.

Alessandro Florenzi was the worst of the back four and got a 5.5, while Fikayo Tomori got a 6 and both Simon Kjaer and Theo Hernandez got a 6.5. Tommaso Pobega was awarded a 5.5 and his midfield partner Ismael Bennacer got half a point higher.

Alexis Saelemaekers got a 5.5, Brahim Diaz and Olivier Giroud each got a 5 and finally the substitutes Sandro Tonali (6), Junior Messias (6) and Charles De Ketelaere (5.5) round off the scores.

      1. One of the highlights of last season. Too bad he didn’t hit him HARD though. 😀

PS. I also thought MM16 was more MVP than Leao. (Same goes to Tomori & Kalulu though).

  1. ratings must be from a different game that I watched, second half I saw an attack where Pobega got a pass at midfield and 10 yards later was passed by two defenders, s l o w….imo and realize the derby is this weekend, regardless, put your best 11 on the pitch from the start, throwing them in in the second half in a last ditch attempt to win is demoralizing for all. Give the opposition “no hope” as early as possible. CDK a 5.5 with Messias a 6 and Pobega a 5.5, c’mon.

  2. Only one CF in the whole squad and it showed, big time. Why wasn’t Lazetic on the bench? Pioli makes some strange decisions.
