AC Milan were left with mixed emotions after last night’s game against Napoli as they went 2-0 up but ended up having to settle for a draw at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) have published their ratings from the game this morning, starting with Mike Maignan who got a 5.5 out of 10. He was surprised by Raspadori’s free-kick but redeemed himself with a save on Kvaratskhelia’s injury time shot.
Davide Calabria had another good battle with Kvaratskhelia which he came out on top in more often than not, also providing an assist for the second goal to earn a 6.5.
Pierre Kalulu came off with a thigh issue, and his replacement Marco Pellegrino struggled on the first Napoli goal as Politano turned him inside out, earning a 5 on his Milan debut.
Fikayo Tomori was ‘careful in every situation, until Napoli accelerated’ so he got a 6. Theo Hernandez got the same after some dangerous forays forward but some suspect defensive work in the second half.
Yunus Musah was all over the pitch in the first half and was involved in the second goal, getting a 6, while Rade Krunic ‘took care of Elmas but not only, intercepting the passing lanes’ but got lost early in the second half, scoring the same.
Tijjani Reijnders (6) was good in the midfield, limiting Lobotka’s influence, but he lacks shooting precision and knows he missed the chance that could have killed the game.
Christian Pulisic had a very bright performance cut short due to muscle discomfort at half-time, and he received a score of 6.5, while his replacement Luka Romero scored a 5 after impacting the game little in the attacking phase and giving away the free-kick for the equaliser.
Olivier Giroud got the highest score (7) after netting a brace with two very similar headers, continuing his trend of being a menace to Napoli at the Maradona.
Rafael Leão was ‘good when he put himself at the service of the team, but bad when he persists in personal actions with shots that can be reviewed and his teammates ignored’. He got a 5.5.
Reijnders need to learn how to shoot ffs, we could be 3 to 4-0 if he not keeping shoot the ball to the moon!!
Decent ratings except I’d give Reinjders less. But agreed. Musah and Krunic did well, so did Timori and Calabria. The attack was fluid through Puli. And the left side unbalanced our team though some signs from Theo that his attacking prowess is back. Mike alos had a night to forget and Giroud almost one to remember
If this were a champions league game, I’m guessing CP would have stayed in. With Chukwueze out, pioli was being conservative with what seemed like the game in hand. Sorry, but if Romero was a 5, Pulisic was a 10. On the bright side, Musah is a star in the making. Work rate, vision, poise, all at 20 years old. Wow.
Pulisic couldn’t get a solid rating on this site if he scored three hat tricks. There’s enough evidence to see a clear pattern of underscoring him here in these novice ratings. And the second he was gone the lack of chemistry was clear.
For a brief few moments, the ball movement was absolutely stunning on this team ….until the wheels fell off.
Reijnders missed multiple shots that he should have hit, again.
I also disagree with their assessment that he was “good in midfield”. His defensive contribution was limited at best, he frequently got knocked off the ball and his can’t hit the broad side of a barn from 5 ft away.
Before people think I’m trashing him, he ideally should be a sub at Milan right now until he is ready. He’s good at passing and moving between the lines which I appreciate but his other skills are sorely missed right now.
He, like Pioli, need to pick up their game ASAP. Overall, Reijnders has been a disappoint so far. Underwhelming. He needs to develop more.
