GdS: Milan to meet father of playmaker in bid to put pressure on Real Madrid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want to sign Brahim Diaz on a permanent deal and they will hold a meeting with his father today, according to a report.

As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the father of Brahim Diaz – Sufiel Abdelkader – should go to visit Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara today.

The meeting should serve to confirm the mutual esteem between Brahim and Milan, given that Stefano Pioli continues to use him in the biggest games has never hidden his desire to be able to keep him.

The player would also like to stay and is expected to communicate that to the club through his father, but Brahim’s future is inextricably linked to what Real Madrid will decide to do as well.

It seems as though Los Blancos are not willing to promise him a leading role and instead could bring him back to the Spanish capital to then sell for a higher price.

For this reason, after today’s meeting scheduled between Milan and Diaz’s father, they will try to sit down at the table with Florentino Perez’s club as well to agree on a the option to buy before the loan expires, beating the competition.

The feeling is that an agreement can be found at around €22m, and the meeting with Abdelkader could be to certify an agreement between the two parties that could be of help in the negotiation with Real.

With player and Rossoneri united on their plan for the future and certain of wanting to continue together, Real Madrid could have their hands tied and would be led to find a solution with Maldini and Massara to avoid major problems.

    1. I think this is insane, This issue of bringing retiring players from EPL and Laliga to come and burden Milan for no reason should end. Surely what is loftus cheek coming to do at Milan While there are great young talents in Brazilian league such as Angelo Gabriel, Guga, Igor gomes etc. Milan is not a retiring Club. Maldini,Pioli and Masara should keep that in mind.

      1. Dude, people like you make it seem as though every player that comes in is 35. Putting aside performance for a moment, how old were Theo, Leao, Mike, Tonali, Bennacer, Diaz, CDK, Saelemaekers, Tomori, Kalulu, and Thiaw when they were brought in? Last season and the season before that we have the youngest average playing squad in the league. A couple of veterans come in and suddenly “THIS IS NOT A RETIREMENT HOME”? Putting aside whether Loftus-Cheek would fit in or not, he’s TWENTYSEVEN. COME ON, FFS. We need experienced players too, not just 18 y/o babies who will take 2-3 seasons to grow and acclimate. Then it will be “WHAT A BUST, FIRE MALDINI AND MASSARA”. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

  1. Brahim.stats as a Milan player
    2020/21
    1231 minutes, 4 g, 3 a
    2021/22
    1874 minutes, 3 g, 3 a
    2022/23
    1654 minutes, 5 g, 4 a.
    Has he really improved?
We can all agree that at least now he can stay on his feet instead of flying to the ground with every little bump from an opposing player, but he still can’t shoot, can’t pass and his decision making when in possession of the ball is bad. He either passes the ball to early, holds on when he needs to pass it or passes it too late and the chance is gone.
3 years in, based on minutes played, his 1st season when he wasn’t even a starter was his most productive.
Invest that 20+ mil in a player with higher upside. We already know what we going to get from Brahim and it isn’t much.
Let him go back to Real Madrid, but then again Milan SD is Maldini, so he’d probably sign him permanently

    1. Yeah. If we can get him for 5-10M€, then sure, he can stay as a backup. But no way in hell is he worth over 10M€!

    2. I agree with this. Plus, if Pioli stays it seems likely he will continue playing three traditional CMs in the middle, meaning Diaz will continue to be out of position at RW. As you said, spend the money on a player that has higher upside, or is already proven to be better, AND is a natural RW.

  2. I don’t see why Maldini going crazy for this guy, he only has one or two games in a month and he’s short. What’s so good I’m him

  3. 22m euro for Brahim are too much , he is only good vs team that play atacking style and we all know most italian club play defensive style thats make brahim have hard time if not have space for drible. Better sign Orsolini or Ziyech for RW to service striker both can available just 10-15m euro because their contract left 1 years

    1. Our entire squad is only good against teams that play attacking style. That’s a coaching issue, not a player issue.

  4. Certainly Brahim is irregular and does better with teams that play an attacking style giving him more space; certainly he is too small and physical defenders bump him to the ground. But also, let’s not forget that he has produced some essential goals and assists in big games and we wouldn’t even be in the UCL semis if not for his goal against Tottenham. I think he’s worth keeping. It is true that 22M does seem to be too much. But an effort to keep him is logical. By the way, he does better as a right winger where defenders aren’t as physical.
