MN: Milan’s probable XI for Spezia clash – six changes as Ibrahimovic returns

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Spezia in the 22nd round of Serie A on Monday evening, hoping to build on their positive form. Compared to the game against Genoa mid-week, there will be six changes to the starting XI.

The Rossoneri are struggling with many key absences and the situation has been far from easy for Stefano Pioli. Just when he thought he had got Fikayo Tomori back, the centre-back has been ruled out for a month with a knee injury.

As reported by MilanNews, this means that the centre-back pairing will be Pierre Kalulu and Matteo Gabbia on Monday. The youngsters deserve praise for their efforts but there are some important tests coming up.

In midfield, Tiemoeu Bakayoko will replace the suspended Sandro Tonali alongside Rade Krunic. It’s indeed a makeshift tandem and it remains to be seen how they will respond under pressure.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back from suspension (Coppa Italia) and will get the chance from start, while the likes of Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao also will start.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Kalulu, Gabbia, Hernandez; Bakayoko, Krunic; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.

  1. Went from having a depleted attack to having a depleted defense. Hoping that a good offense is a good defense. Can’t drop points now!
