GdS: Milan player ratings for Lazio win – Okafor’s willingness; Pulisic important

By Isak Möller -

It ended up being a rather dramatic game between AC Milan and Lazio after a rather slow first half, with everything erupting in the final 45 minutes. Noah Okafor, who scored the winner, was named the MOTM by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning.

The pink newspaper (see photo below) assessed the individual performances of the Milan players and named Okafor the MOTM at 7/10, just like in our player ratings. He entered the pitch with a lot of will and desire, as the newspaper states, and the goal was the icing on the cake.

The likes of Matteo Gabbia, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders were just behind at 6.5/10. The American is the one who ‘created’ the sending-off for Lazio by playing on, while the Dutchman was centimetres away from a great assist for Rafael Leao.

Mike Maignan, Simon Kjaer, Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Davide Calabria all passed the test at 6/10. The Frenchman had one of his trademark runs just before the goal, while the other three were simply just decent.

Alessandro Florenzi, Yacine Adli, Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud, on the other hand, didn’t get a pass from the newspaper at 5.5/10. The striker was named the worst of the bunch after failing to combine with his teammates.

Stefano Pioli, meanwhile, was handed a 6.5/10 by the newspaper for getting the substitutions right this time out.

  1. Idk how many times we will see Giroud as“il peggiore“ this season for him to get benched.. Jovic or Okafor should be starters imo. Like all respect to Giroud but he should be the „golden rotation“ not the both mentioned above ( in 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1). The only time he should start imo is in 4-4-2 where I can’t deny he thrives best.

    1. idk how many times we will see Jovic as instead of Giroud and be the flop of the match..

Jovic has shown plenty of times he’s not good enough to be the starter.

        1. Milan’s best goal scorer and he also has most assists in the whole league. Yeah, bench him as we don’t need goals, am I right?!

  2. It’s not just Giroud, that’s the problem. The whole team is incredibly incoherent! Sometimes I feel like we can deal with everyone and sometimes we can lose to anyone. I’m not saying other teams don’t have that kind of problem, but in our team it’s very pronounced. Compare e.g. Adli in a great first match of the European league against the French.. and last night in Rome ! I don’t know how many balls he lost. At some points I felt like he had never played alongside the rest of the team. A few other players were far below their means which resulted in a really poor performance. All that’s good is just three points won in that chaos.
