GdS: Milan signing Lukaku would exclude Zirkzee’s arrival – the details

If AC Milan were to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer on loan from Chelsea, they would not be able to complete the long-awaited deal for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the Rossoneri would not have the capacity to bring both strikers in this summer, as well as targets for other areas of the squad.

Milan have started talks with Lukaku’s agent and Chelsea to see whether a loan move would be on the cards. It would be Lukaku’s third loan in Serie A since he signed for Chelsea, the others being at Inter and Roma.

Despite Enzo Maresca now being in charge at Chelsea, there is no suggestion that the Premier League side wants to keep Lukaku and the Belgian striker should be on the move again.

He managed to score 21 goals last season for Roma across all competitions but the Giallorossi cannot afford to keep him.

The problem for Milan is that they cannot afford to bring in Lukaku and Zirkzee when they only have a starting role for one of them, and it would be a serious test for Paulo Fonseca to keep both players happy with the amount of minutes on offer.

  1. wages? how about the qulity diffrence. lukaku has been in a big decline ever since he left inter. not even impressive in roma. he is not who we should look t by any means.

i hope this managment are happy when we are spear headed into another banter era.

    1. Ibrahimovic was 30 the first time he arrived at Milan. 39 the second time. In Serie A many great strikers are 30 or above.

    2. Milan would negotiate his salary obviously. And the truth is, if rather Lukaku if we ain’t getting Zirkzee than some random small time striker. At least he still scored goals. Scores 21 for Roma last term in all comps. And that wasn’t even his best season. If we can make it happen as a short term solution for 3 seasons then ok.

      1. I agree, I would much rather have Lukaku short-term and look for a long-term solution than throw money away on Zirkzee who isn’t a solution over any term.

    3. Yes because football is like entertainment, and we wanna see Lukaku againsts his former club which is interesting if he scored or assist a goal

  2. In in favour of this move. To win scudetto + go far in europe we need a proven CF. Giroud gave us 15-20 goals but he was 37-38. Lukaku is 31 with few good years in him. He doesn’t rely on his speed, has serie A experience, able to link up well and bring Leao & Pulisic into play. Can mentor Camada. There’s more positives and low risk than simply focusing on his wages.

  3. All ya blablah is wrong . Lukaku is a no no for me.
Inter offload lukaku and bring in Thuram which he has scored against Milan. Why not find your own younger player striker and let other team pay attentions to him on the field as a surprise.. not all these UK used striker..I hate to see lukaku in Milan uniform

  4. Will king zlatan step down from the throne? And lukaku become new king of milan? Or it will be zlatan vs lukaku
