Francesco Camarda is the next big thing in Italian football, and for that reason, AC Milan have a lot of pressure to nurture him correctly. However, the club has recently been criticised for their handling of the youngster.
If things go as planned, Camarda will not only be the star of Milan, but also the Italian National Team for years to come, and this is why the Rossoneri are being cautious. At the youth level, the striker impressed heavily year after year, and this is why he deserved a promotion.
Instead of loaning him out, the club would prefer to keep a closer eye on him, whilst allowing him senior football minutes, and this is why the Serie C option – offered by the Futuro squad – made so much sense.
This decision has been a topic of backlash, though, from the head of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina. Earlier this week, he stated that it is ‘sad to see how often they [young players] are not used by the clubs, I am thinking of Camarda at Milan. Talent needs opportunities, abroad they give them’.
In today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan), it has been revealed that the club were ‘surprised’ about these comments, given they regularly offer young talents big opportunities. For Camarda, he has taken a step forward this summer, and the Futuro is simply an ‘intermediate stage’ which must occur to keep developing him.
Primarily, this will grow him physically, but it also will allow him to grow mentally, without the pressure of the Rossoneri first team picture, which he so clearly is destined for.

Except Milan management, all r surprised on the way Camadra, Zeroli, Liberali are treated.
I dont think it’s just Milan. It’s italy as a whole. They are reluctant to play young players. For a club like ours, in this culture i understand. I mean, say he plays Camarda and Liberali. If they dont perform, coach gets fired and ppl blame management for not having a proven guy.
Spain is a little less physical, coupled with their culture of playing young is what allows most clubs, including a Barcelona to play 19yr old kids.
Ask yourself, honestly, If we play Camarda and he does worse than Tammy or Morata, will u accept it cuz he’s young ? Even if it costs us a top 4?
You are very right!!! it’s Italy as a whole doesn’t give chance to youngsters.italy believes in experience, proven, and old players.maybe, because the league is very physical compared to the English and Spanish league where you see so many youngsters making waves at just 16,17,18 years old.if he was English or Spanish he would have been playing with the senior team
There are also games that can be used for youngsters…
There are half-times and substitutions…
Fonseca just needs cohones… and I’m sure soon enough he will be tired of these clowns and will gamble on the youth
The thing about talented players, playing with amd against less skilled players can stunt their growth. Lower leagues can actually be more problematic for their development. Thta being said, he will get his opportunity in due time.
Milanista want club treat Camarda just like Maldini/ Baresi/ Rivera.. but club act like they want him to be another Matri/ Paloschi/ Petagna/ Cutrone/ Colombo/ Nasti…
