As Mike Maignan could wave goodbye in the coming days, AC Milan are evaluating potential replacements and two young profiles are on their radar.
Negotiations between Milan and Chelsea are at an advanced stage, despite a rejected €15m offer, and an agreement could be found in the coming days. As such, the Rossoneri are currently evaluating what life would be without Maignan, with step one being to find a replacement.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan are entering the situation relatively prepared, given that there has been great uncertainty regarding Maignan for quite some time. The No.1 target, therefore, is Roma’s Mile Svilar who impressed everyone this past season.
Two more feasible options, however, are Zion Suzuki (Parma) and Elia Caprile (Cagliari), aged 22 and 23 respectively. They both have a very promising future and certainly wouldn’t be as expensive as Svilar, who is reported to have a price tag of around €30m.
Gazzetta’s report aside, the feeling is that Milan need someone with a bit more experience to help lead the team back to the top. Matteo Moretto stated earlier today that Vanja Milinkovic-Savic more or less has been secured, thanks to a great relationship between his agent and Igli Tare.

Chevalier would be an awesome signing, perhaps even could argue an upgrade based on his potential and age.
However if we get VMS thats a reliable replacement. We dont need to break the bank for GK and Chevalier linked with EPL clubs so his price tag could be well over 30mn

I largely agree with this setup …with a few issues…
I won’t get rid of Chuku just yet, a great sub that performed coming off the bench let’s be honest. Also have to get rid of Adli, Pobega, Florenzi, Jovic.
We are playing once per week, we don’t need another striker this year. Leao can be 2nd striker so he doesn’t have to defend too much, would rather see Carmarda getting more minutes than pay 35mil for another striker and we aren’t even in European competition.
Prefer to spend that on ensuring we get the profiles we want, quality in form LB,RB, 2 Registas
Maignan should have been sold last year or 2 years ago, just like Donnarumma.
Goalkeeper is the easiest position to replace, especially in Italy.
You should never engage in contract extension negotiations with a Goalkeeper who asks for 5 mil or in Gigio situation 12 million. You can easily find another goalkeeper who will do the same for a fraction of the salary.
Least important player on the pitch. On a big club they don’t do a damn thing for 95% of the time.
You don’t need someone who will stand on his head. All you need is someone who will not cost you games but making mistakes or giving up cheap goals.
Donnarumma is making 12 million and he is arguably the worst goalkeeper i have ever seen on high balls and corners.
Maignan is on of the worst Goalkeepers for shots at the near post.

Sportiello has done well when he has played so the solution is already here. No need to overspend on a goalie if we are going to gift Maignan away.
