GdS: Milan’s move for Barcelona man has totally collapsed – the key reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo but their pursuit now appears to be over.

The Frenchman appeared to be the first choice defensive reinforcement for the Rossoneri, but the latest reports suggest that Maldini and Boban have ‘grown impatient’ with both Barcelona and the player.

German outlet Bild are reporting that Todibo is in fact ‘one step away’ from joining Schalke, while Milan have moved on to other targets.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport – as cited by MilanNews.it – Todibo is no longer the top name on the Diavolo’s defensive wish list. Milan wanted to put their faith in him both for the present and for the future, but they were unable to get a deal done.

Ultimately, the club’s hierarchy were unable convince the 20-year-old to move on from Barcelona, and the player never hid his desire to remain tied to the Catalan side. The LaLiga club themselves did not accept the formula of the loan with option to buy.
