AC Milan may not have won the penalty shootout that decided the Naranja Trophy against Valencia, but Stefano Pioli got several positive signs.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) analyses the performance of the Rossoneri this morning and highlights above all the game that Brahim Diaz played, as he was undoubtedly the best on the pitch for Milan with his dribbling, his progressive movement and even the fact he nearly scored in the second half.
New signings Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud were able to get some more minutes in too, with the goalkeeper appearing very confident – making a good save on Cheryshev – and the striker showing good composure to net with his penalty at the end of the 90 minutes.
Of course, the upcoming tests against Real Madrid and Panathanaikos will be crucial in getting both of them into match rhythm, but there are certainly some positive signs.
Giroud did not start the game. Leao did up top with Maldini, Diaz, and Castilejo behind him.
Also Maignan started last friendly against Nice too. And Giroud also played second half of that match.
