Stefano Pioli could give Brahim Diaz his first competitive start for AC Milan in Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against Shamrock Rovers.
The Rossoneri face the trip to Dublin hoping to make the third qualifying round where they will have a game at San Siro before the Play-Off game to finally determine whether they will make the group stages.
According to Saturday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Brahim could find a place in the starting line-up on Thursday against Shamrock.
The Spaniard wants to adjust to Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 as quickly as possible, a game system that seems tailor-made for him. The 21-year-old is capable of playing in all three positions behind the striker.
Diaz immediately showed his qualities in the few minutes he played against Monza and Vicenza, also scoring his first goal in the Rossoneri shirt.
The disqualification of Rebic (out for three Europa League matches due to a ban while at Eintracht) could pave the way for Brahim, who could line up next to Calhanoglu and Castillejo behind Ibrahimovic.
The competition is Paquetà, but Diaz has what it takes to win over his Brazilian colleague.
