AC Milan will make the trip to the English capital to face off against Chelsea in the Champions League, and Stefano Pioli has some decisions to make.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) talks about the dilemma that Pioli faces in the right-back role as Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are out until 2023 due to their respective injuries.
There are some alternatives such as the natural player for that role in Sergino Dest, and it is almost certain the American will take the field from the first minute against Chelsea for his first start, having arrived on loan from Barcelona in the summer.
However, he is not the only option that Pioli is considering for the right side as plan B is to move Pierre Kalulu to the full-back role and put another centre-back alongside Fikayo Tomori. With Simon Kjaer injured too, the options are Matteo Gabbia and Malik Thiaw, but the latter is not on the UEFA squad list.
Kalulu deserves the chance to play in his natural position, you can see the amount of times he joins the attack he wants to get forward why not give him that chance at rb. As for the CB replacement honestly every time gabbia has played this season he has looked good, and no I don’t trust dest for now.
Alex I don’t think Gabbia is ready to face players like Sterling , Auba , Ziyech etc…
I wish he could , but he is not ready, so I think Dest is the best option! Kalulu will stay as a CB and Dest as RB…
To be honest ,I’m more worried about Tatarusanu than Dest or other players

Ronny you’re on point, Tatarusanu is our greatest fear, I hope he give the spark like that of inter last season where he saved a penalty kick.
You guys are all worried for Tats cos of that free kick against Empoli, Mike has conceded in almost every game too. Stamford Bridge is home to our forward and Defender, we will come out strong
That freekick should have been an easy save for a good GK…. but that wasn’t my biggest fear! My biggest fear is his lack of confidence, it was clear to see that he wasn’t confident on the field , I think he nearly let the ball loose on a tame low shot, this shows his level of confidence! Frankly ,I’ve always thought that Milan needed a better 2nd GK , we cannot have a huge gap between our first GK and our 2nd keeper, it’s not healthy for our 1st keeper , lack of competition in a team, makes a player’s level becomes stagnant.
I think we can get a better 2nd Gk who is more reliable than Tatarusanu..
I appreciate everything he has done ,but the fact remains that he is an average GK
