GdS: Pioli to rotate Ibrahimovic and Giroud in three crucial games – the plan in mind

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is finally able to rotate his two strikers just as he planned, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud ready for an important role.

Milan have three very important matches in the next ten days: first is the trip to face Jose Mourinho’s Roma on Sunday night, then is the must-win Champions League game against Porto and finally the derby against Inter a week on Sunday. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that depth will be important, and the ability to rotate.

There will be a relay between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud in the centre-forward role, and the current plan that Pioli has in mind is for the Swede to start the two league games against Roma and Inter, while on Wednesday evening at San Siro against Porto it should be up to the Frenchman to lead the line.

Ibra’s next goal will be his 150th goal in Serie A and that is a milestone he would love to reach at the Olimpico against his former boss Jose Mourinho.

  1. Please the Serie A clubs in UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE should be considered to be playing their serie A fixtures on FRIDAY OR SATURDAY for them to be competitive IN EUROPE PLEASE ADDRESS THE BOARD

      1. You mean it’s full of Italians, people who have a hard time doing common sense things.

As to the article, it’s telling that Giroud is playing the CL match. To me it’s a signal that we’ve basically given up in that competition. I’m not mad at that, as the effort to try to qualify in three games might do us harm in the long run. It’s our first CL campaign in 8 years with a young team. Let’s win the Scudetto and next season we can raise the bar in the CL to qualification from the group.
