GdS: Probable Milan XI to face Sassuolo – several changes from Lazio disaster

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli could well make multiple changes to his starting line-up for the game against Sassuolo after two disastrous results against Inter and Lazio.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ciprian Tatarusanu should start in goal with Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu keeping their place in the back four, but two changes are expected with Theo Hernandez likely to return from injury and Simon Kjaer tipped to cover for the injured Fikayo Tomori.

Ismael Bennacer is suspended after amassing too many yellow cards and therefore it should be up to Rade Krunic to join Sandro Tonali in the double pivot rather than Aster Vranckx or Tommaso Pobega.

There is a battle for the right wing spot between Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias, while Charles De Ketelaere is currently ahead of Brahim Diaz in the race for the No.10 role. Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud should complete the attack.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kjaer, Kalulu, Theo Hernandez; Krunic, Tonali; Saelemaekers/Messias, De Ketelaere, Leao; Giroud.

  1. Tata again on the goal, same formation with the same players, as expected from Pioli. (at least for now, hopefully there will be changes)

  2. CDK on the right, Kalulu at RB, Gabbia/Thiaw at CB, Lazetic up top, My Nan in goal (she passed some years ago), Krunic with Bennacer, Tonali at 10,
Can’t be worse than what has gone before…

    Bench: Calabria, Salad, Messias, Giroud

  3. There was so much talk about the defense against the Lazios game and they just focused on the mistakes that the defense made! I always say that you don’t defend with the defenders on 5he middle of the pitch, so to my opinion we lacked covering from the 3 attacking midfielders to stop Lazios wing play on both sides. The other thing is that we are missing some centimetres in the team, especially on the defense. I hope if there is a fatigue issue that Pioli gives a chance to some fresh legs to contribute as well. Fingers crossed 🤞

  4. I don’t see a problem with Olivier Giroud,,it’s the service to him that’s the problem …Rafael leao has not being able to get past his last man ,let alone delivering crosses that Olivier thrives on …I am not saying Rafael leao is not a good player we need him ,but I,m not sure he is focused on staying with us ..there was talk of a interest in saint maximin ,,just hope we sign him he is super quick very strong and can put in amazing deliveries into the box ..just imagine having both Rafael leao and saint maximin ..Goals would come for sure ..

  5. Dest najobičniji kepec !! Malen isto kao i Brahim Dias zabija glavu u pod i trči ko muha bez glave !! Obojica nemaju pregled ,neznaju dodat upotrebljivu loptu i nemaju visinu !!!! POD HITNO VRATITI NATRAG ODAKLE SU I DOŠLI !!

  6. This is just a guess. Noone except Pioli knows the true line up. But we shouldn’t keep Tata in goal. That’s the only thing I know.

And I think we need someone instead of Giroud for a while. I love the man, but right now he is not the right man to have up top. Rebic or Origi needs to get the chance from start. Giroud hasn’t scored for 9-10 games by now. Something needs to change up top.

  7. Pioli is incapable of playing any other formation despite what talent he has available. It’s ridiculous. The double pivot does not work without Kessie or someone with his attributes which they do not have. Same formation and tactics every week and just hoping things will magically change. What’s the definition of insanity?

    1. Yeah, it’s sad. Seems like we’re seeing the real Pioli now, a mediocre coach. Last season everything went our way, now that we’ve lost Ibra and Maignan for months, the team is without leaders, and Pioli isn’t one either.

  8. Where are the changes? Same squad … Pioli is a loser. One more Sunday without win. I’m wondering how long we have to wait before we can see the new sign play? Why buy players if never play?
