GdS: RedBird and Milan eagerly await election result in Sesto amid stadium plans

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and their new owners, RedBird Capital, have made it very clear that a new stadium is needed to compete with the big teams. Tomorrow, there could be some important updates regarding the matter.

Milan’s plan B, given the long delays for the San Siro area, is to build a stadium in the old Falck area in Sesto San Giovanni. The current mayor, Roberto Di Stefano, has welcomed the idea but a lot depends on his tenure.

As Gazzetta Dello Sport report, the mayor election is tomorrow and Di Stefano’s competitor, Michele Foggetta, has made it clear that a new stadium isn’t a priority for Sesto. In other words, it could change a lot for Milan.

Should Di Stefano win the election, then the stadium project will certainly be a possibility for Milan in case they decide to abandon the San Siro area. With Foggetta at the helm, though, it could be a lot more difficult as the backing of the council is needed for such a big project.

  1. Why am I getting deja vu from this, mayor sala did exactly the same thing when he was up for
re-election, he promised the fking moon, then slammed the brakes on when he had his power.

  2. Rotten politicians who don’t care for anyone but themselves. Ac Milan is a giant and a brand you can trust so we should have a monstrous stadium that befits our legendary status #FACT
