GdS: Relations with Inter rupture as Milan move ahead with stadium project

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are ready to build a stadium of their own after years of negotiating with the city council, along with Inter, without making big progress. This decision has angered the Nerazzurri, a report claims.

Milan and Inter first unveiled their stadium project back in 2019 and since then, it has been an endless discussion with the city council. And with little progress made, Gerry Cardinale now wants to move the project elsewhere but not with Inter.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the total rupture hasn’t happened just yet, but the fact remains that the relations are at a bare minimum and the shared stadium project is hanging on by a thread.

Cardinale is more and more convinced about building the stadium without Inter, even if the latter also are inclined to leave the San Siro area. The reason behind that is the Nerazzurri’s financial situation, with the €275m loan from Oaktree being a big question mark.

The alternative areas Milan have in mind are Sesto San Giovanni, San Donato, Rozzano, and the La Maura racecourse which is close to the current stadium. One issue is that the Rossoneri then must pay the entire cost of the stadium themselves, rather than sharing the costs 50-50 with Inter.

It remains to be seen what will filter from Milan in the coming weeks.

  2. Haha! I absolutely love it Shitinter, is a small club, to own a World Class stadium.. Let them rot in San Siro forever! It’s not our responsibility to gift them a stadium..

  3. What is it with Inter always trying to ride on our stadium coat tails? Time to grow up and get your own. Get this Mussolini-era mentality out of here.
