GdS: Relationship with Maldini, interest from abroad and a tripled salary – latest on Theo Hernandez’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to move quickly in order to secure the long-term future of Theo Hernandez by offering him a big pay rise, a report claims.

According to the latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the management’s plan is to reach an agreement later this year, so as to repel any assaults that may arrive from top European clubs during the January transfer window.

The Rossoneri will have to triple the salary of the Frenchman to get him to extend his stay beyond the current 2024 deadline, and that means going from €1.5m net per season to €4.5m, which is a necessary step to guarantee that the 24-year-old will not be tempted by big offers from abroad.

The current salary of Theo Hernandez must increase in line with how his market value has. He cost €21m back in the summer of 2019 and is now worth over €50m thanks to his excellent performances in Serie A and on the international stage.

Theo Hernandez has always declared that he is happy to be at Milan has never hinted at the will to want to leave, plus his relationship with Paolo Maldini is fantastic, so there is no reason to panic.

  1. Heard it all before – if he doesn’t look likely to sign an extension in the summer then time to sell up whilst he’s at peak value. If Man City or PSG want him, Milan can’t afford him, but they can’t get a LOT of money to reinvest.
