GdS: Signing of Juventus man would likely see young Milan defender leave

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are prepared to let young defender Matteo Gabbia leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, a report claims.

The 20-year-old featured for the Rossoneri during the International Champions Cup in preseason, and impressed many as he put in an assured performance in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

A report from Calciomercato.com back in July claimed that Serie B side Chievo Verona were interested in loaning him, while Brescia were interested in signing him permanently, but that Milan had decided to keep him around.

However, the Italy U21 international has not played a competitive minute for Milan this season under both Marco Giampaolo or new head coach Stefano Pioli.

As a result, newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) are reporting that Gabbia could be allowed to leave on loan in January, especially if a purchase is made.

On that front, the same outlet recently reported that Merih Demiral is the main target if Milan do bring in a new centre-back.
