GdS: Sportiello could miss three months due to severe cut – Milan identify cover

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s tour of the United States has not started well from an injury point of view, with two of the more experienced squad members having suffered quite severe problems.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Milan lost Alessandro Florenzi for almost the entire season after he ruptured the cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus in his right knee during the match against Manchester City, and that was a game Marco Sportiello missed too.

Mike Maignan’s deputy suffered a serious cut on his left hand in a hotel in New York that will force him to sit out for 2-3 months. Tests are underway to define the prognosis and establish whether surgery is necessary or not, and the situation will be clearer in the next few hours.

The goalkeeper’s absence pushes Milan to look for a replacement. Simone Scuffet of Cagliari, who would cost around €3m, is one of the options, especially if Marco Silvestri (who is not on the Rossoneri’s radar) were to end up in Sardinia.

Currently – as seen in the friendly at Yankee Stadium – Fonseca seems happy to rely on the 19-year-old Lorenzo Torriani, who will be the third goalkeeper this season for the senior team and has shown good signs.

    1. Because we know that Maignan will also get injured and it is too risky to bet on two young players with no experience.

    1. Solving injury problem does not apply in these case. Do you even read and understand spotiello injury and florenzi was pushed by Halland and he landed with his knee.

This is not muscular or groin or thigh injury

    2. Our GK was injured in the Hotel.. and Florenzi was injured while putting pressure on the opponent (that was clearly a wrong pass which forced Florezi to do so) so, it was avoidable.

  1. Someone stabbed him or was he buttering bread (I say this jokingly ofc as quite a few athletes in the past have gotten injured like this). That must be a he.ll of a cut though to be out for 3 months
