GdS: Tonali has changed his mind and heart after being ‘overwhelmed by expectations’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali put on a brilliant display last night in the 4-1 win against Cagliari and has drawn the praise of the media.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that Tonali is perhaps the best symbol of this transformed Milan. The midfielder spent a year with the No.8 on his shoulders telling people that Gennaro Gattuso is his idol and the player he wants to be like rather than Andrea Pirlo.

The paper speculates that the Italy international might have been ‘overwhelmed by expectations’ and the price tag attached to his name during his first campaign as he struggled for consistency, but now he wants to redeem himself.

Head coach Stefano Pioli had already noticed in the Real Madrid friendly that the boy had ‘changed his mind and heart’, and now he has gone about repaying the faith of the management in the right way with an excellent showing last night.
