GdS: Tonali is the past, present and future of Milan amid deserved renewal

By Isak Möller -

Sandro Tonali signed his contract renewal with AC Milan last night and he will now remain at the club until at least 2027. The feeling is that he could stay for a very long time, perhaps for the entirety of his career.

The youngster struggled in his first season with Milan and thus agreed to lower his salary when he was signed permanently last summer. However, the Scudetto season proved his real value and the new contract was thus expected.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), it’s the third signing in three years for Tonali. He’s often referred to as the present and future of Milan, but the reality is that he has also played a big part in the past.

The Scudetto season obviously springs to mind, but his first year with the club was also incredibly important for the development. In any case, he will now earn around €3m per year instead of €1.4m, which is a justified and deserved increase.
