GdS: When Maignan could be back in action for Milan – derby likely ruled out

By Isak Möller -

Mike Maignan is struggling to recover from his calf injury and it looks like he will miss AC Milan’s clash against Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana. In fact, his return is up in the air, a report claims.

Initially, it was believed that Maignan would be back for at least one of the winter friendlies, and thus be ready for the game against Salernitana. However, as the recovery hasn’t gone according to plan, this isn’t the case.

As stated by Gazzetta Dello Sport’s Luca Bianchin, speaking to MilanNews, it’s hard to put an exact date for the return of Maignan. However, the games between the Supercoppa Italiana and the first Tottenham leg could be targeted.

For now, as he concluded, the chances of seeing Maignan in the Supercoppa derby are less than 50%. It will be Antonio Mirante or Ciprian Tatarusanu in goal and the Rossoneri are right to be concerned about that fact.

    1. As things are going right now, we might even struggle to or not qualify for the CL at all come next season 😭.
      I weep for Milan 😭😪😭

  1. I don’t know why no one is mentioning keylor navas. We could get him on a loan with option to buy. Even though his age is not what the management are moving forward with, I would see him as a very reliable option as a second goalkeeper
