A rather interesting excerpt from Santiago Gimenez’s interview with GQ includes what Christian Pulisic told him about AC Milan fans when he arrived.

However, that’s not what ended up happening and the Mexican suffered from some growing pains. Nonetheless, it seems the new head coach Massimiliano Allegri will have a look at him in preseason, even if there are some links with strikers like Mateo Retegui and Dusan Vlahovic.
What Pulisic told Gimenez
In the past few hours, Gimenez opened up about himself in a long interview with GQ México revealing previously unpublished anecdotes and curiosities about his recent arrival at Milan. You can read it in full on our site, but below is an excerpt that stood out about Pulisic’s welcome.
“Milan are a club that has won seven Champions Leagues and I don’t know how many other cups, so many. It’s one of the most important clubs in history and the fans are used to winning,” he said.
“They don’t settle for second place. Last season they came in second and Pulisic told me that people would crucify them anyway. Imagine now… it’s a very complicated situation for Milan.

Unbeknownst to Pulišić, he was brought not to win the scudetto but just to get 4th place each year.
By management, yes. But everyone talks about Scudettos like we should just be winning them automatically, despite a smaller wage budget than Inter or Juve (and, before last season, Roma and sometimes Napoli).
And then the players end up with completely unrealistic expectations getting crucified. So he has a point.
with all due respect, CP is not complaining that Milan fans will not stand for anything but Scudetto trophies and CL games but simply informing SG what the standards are. A big difference from how Ollie is spinning it. To all of you who watch the matches Pulisic is the prepared and professional player on the squad. His personal goals are to win trophies time and time again at Milan. He took the summer off from USMNT to prepare for the upcoming Serie A season. Look at the video of him leaving the field in Saudi Arabia this past January. While everyone else is celebrating like they just won the Scudetto he gives off a vibe that what they just won is not enough and not what he signed on for. Year after year his off-season work is to improve his game. His one weakness may be his physical stature due to his height and weight but look for him to come back physically stronger in August. He more than anyone else on the team is an example to the younger players on how to be a professional footballer and that includes setting a high bar for personal and team goals.
