Olivier Giroud has done an interview with Sky in which he talked about his Achilles problem, contract renewal and the upcoming Champions League derbies against Inter.
The Frenchman continued his trend of scoring decisive goals as he netted what would end up being the goal that sealed the tie against Napoli at the Maradona in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.
However, it was clear that he was struggling with some pain towards the bottom of his leg and he was fully rested during Sunday’s win against Lecce, even training alone for the first couple of sessions this week.
Giroud gave an interview to Sky Italia in which he talked about a number of topics, and it was aired on the eve of tomorrow’s crucial clash against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
How is your Achilles tendon?
“Wednesday I trained separately and Thursday with the team. And I had good sensations.”
You have two huge games against Inter coming up…
“First we have to secure a place in the top four in Serie A. Of course we want to win in the semi-finals of the Champions League, but we know it will be tough.”
Just how important is qualifying for the next edition?
“Milan is a great European club, one of the most successful in the Champions League. And Milan must be in the Champions League.”
What emotions do you feel in the derby games?
“Playing the derby is always crazy, exciting. But a derby in the Champions League semi-final is even more special. And we can’t wait to play.”
You recently renewed your contract…
“I feel part of the Milan family and as long as I can give something to the team, I have the motivation to play at a high level and be competitive. It was almost obvious that I would continue my adventure with Milan.”
