After the game between AC Milan and Torino, which the former won 4-1, Olivier Giroud shared his thoughts with the media. The Frenchman bagged a brace and now has three goals in two games.
Apart from the goal conceded, which came out of nowhere (Torino’s only shot on target), it was a perfect night for Milan. Four goals scored and another three points added to their tally, boosting the confidence further.
Giroud bagged two goals himself and both came from the spot. The Frenchman won the battles against Milinkovic-Savic and how has three goals in two games. Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, he shared his thoughts.
There has been a lot of talk about a deputy for Giroud, but you are always there. Ibra said he was Benjamin Button, but doesn’t Milan have another one?
“I get too much pleasure playing with this team. It shows on the pitch, we have fun with a great team spirit. When we win, it’s always a beautiful evening. Deputy Giroud? I don’t know, maybe we already have him in the team. We’ll see.”
Do you have more weapons than last year?
“We can compete and do well in the Champions League, Serie A and also in Coppa Italia. We have many qualities with these young players that we have signed. We have many solutions.”
How is it playing with Leao and Pulisic?
“I think we’re very compatible, complementary. In the sense that one goes deep, the other likes to have the ball at his feet, we like to play a one-two. There are still some things to perfect, but we can see that we are having fun on the pitch. But not just the three of us, with everyone. I don’t like playing against this team [Torino], man marking all the time, it’s difficult for me. But we handled it well tonight.”
How is the new group?
“For me, the most important thing is team spirit, and the guys who have arrived have that spirit. It’s the mentality of Milan, never give up and always fight to the end.”
Milan will face Roma next and the game is scheduled for Friday next week. It will take place at Stadio Olimpico and it remains to be seen if Stefano Pioli will field the same starting XI yet again.
Giroud is like a fine wine. It gets better as it gain age… If he continue this form then getting 20 goals is not impossible.
His playing style also not too taxing to the body, he can still play at high level for 2-3 seasons. But not as main striker though, hopefully next season we will have a new starting level CF to take over from him. Be it from the current crop (Okafor, Colombo or Lazetic) or new player.
Besdes of complaining about our two penalties which i personally thought was fairly given the danish commentators actually used the phrase that giroud was like a fine wine improved by age or something like that 😀 his anticpation, positioning and atheleticismn is his overall forces in my view that makes him a great striker even if he only scored 2 penalty goals today.
That 2nd penalty should have also been a straight red card to Schuur. I get people debating the first, but the second was clear as day.
And as for the first one… The ball would have struck Buongiorno’s hand even if Giraud wouldn’t have touched the ball fraction of a second earlier. A handball is a handball. 🙂
i agree in reagard of the 2nd and schuur getting red carded but at the first one the opposition who i cant remember was at the moment could just stop trying to push giroud from behind who then was smart enough to dug his head and then getting us the penalty kick instead,

I like his impact on this team overall. He’s filling in Ibra’s shoes pretty nicely. Remember he does have an impact on the team even when he’s not playing.
I do think we need another striker, and if that’s Taremi I’d be fine with him arriving.
I think Taremi would be a great buy, there would be a precise objective which would be the Scudetto and atleast Champs Semi, but he will serve us just for few years… Don’t know if signing a youngster with potential would be better ❤️🖤
Perfectly said by Giroud : Our 3 Forwards have different style, but they fit very well.
– Leao likes ball in his feet often & can create many things from nothing with that.
– Pulisic likes to go deep, connecting passes & he always found good place to fill. He almost makes illusion like he was everywhere in final third. For comparison, Chukwueze only wait at Right Flank & makes dribbles, not actively move around like Pulisic did.
– Finally, Giroud : Likes to play one-twos. And this trait turn Leao & Pulisic on to their potentials.
Yes I have said that that man Olivier Giroud is class .
For me he is a perfect man to have in and around the 18 yard area ,,,technically this man is the best ..He knows the whearabouts of his team members ,and the beauty is that now with have so much pace alongside him that yes goals will come ..I have aready said this even before this season had started that as has been already said ,,he can easily score 20 goals this season ( in all competitions) not that is pretty good in the Italian league,where the defence depth is very strong ..I have also said that we will challenge for honours again this season .Why ? Simply that we have a great depth of squad this season …Loftus cheek such a strong tall physical player ,that can create things going forward and helping our defence when needed ,my only concern for him was if he remains injury free ,but so far so good for him ..He will score a few goals also ,then what a man we have when we signed pulisic ,.I had no doubt about his capabilities and he can play either flank which is very useful!
He has very quick feet and can change direction of play in an instant and I believe he will also score around 20 goals in all competitions,,,then we have Rafeo leao ( sheer class again ) perhaps not at his best yet ,,still thinks sometimes he rushes things a little bit but hey what a play to have in your team electrifying pace ,and can easily get passed even the best of defenders…Just wait the best is yet to come from Rafeo leao ,and again he will score goals ..
You noticed I have said goals quite a few times ,it’s because we have a team that will score many ..I have no doubt about that ..We have such a strong squad at the moment and because of the amount of games possible 50 or so ,we will need to rotate players when necessary,but this is a great option when we have so many quality players .Yes even the great Olivier Giroud,Rafeo Leo pulisic etc the list goes on ..
Just a little concern that is that when we attack in numbers ,the defence can become perhaps overstretched..that said we will overcome.

I would not be surprised at all if we win the scuddeto this season ,,yes it’s early days ,but the signs are good ,and we will get better ,with the new players getting understanding with teammates.
You tell me why we can’t win the scuddeto again this season ,,few thought we would two seasons ago ,but I did especially when we signed Olivier Giroud,,then last season we reached the champions league semi final .
Now we have a much better squad of players ,and in my opinion a much better team .
