GdS: Giroud a coiled spring ahead of the derby – he wants to prove his words about Inter right

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will try until the end to be available in tomorrow night’s derby against Inter but it now seems certain that the inflammation of his Achilles tendon will rule him out.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), there is a very slim chance we will see the Swede on the pitch even for a portion of the game off the bench because he did a personalised workout in the gym yesterday at Milanello, so now the pressure is shifted onto the shoulders of Olivier Giroud who will play his first Milan derby.

It is a game with a particular meaning for the Frenchman given that in recent years he spoke with Inter about a move there. “I didn’t sign with Inter, God wanted me at Milan,” revealed Giroud to an English newspaper a few weeks ago.

Now the time has come for him to face the Nerazzurri and the paper claims he is very excited and eager to play in one of Europe’s biggest fixtures, hoping to be decisive with a goal. There is a stylistic difference because Ibra is more creative and physical, while the former Chelsea man moves more inside the penalty area.

Crosses and runs in behind from the other Milan players will be needed and they will have to take advantage of the spaces that Giroud will try to create.
