Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he wants to renew his contract with AC Milan and that talks are ongoing over extending his deal.
Giroud gave a long interview to Canal Football Club, in which he spoke not only about the World Cup with France but also about his future at club level with Milan, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
“I want to renew my contract with Milan. With the Scudetto victory, I entered the hearts of the Milan fans. I’m talking to the club about a renewal, if there is the possibility of finishing my career at a high level in Milan, I will do it. Alternatively, I could choose an exotic destination, I have always liked the American MLS,” he said.
“My goal is to continue scoring and winning trophies in the Milan shirt. As for France, I don’t know yet. I’m still thinking about it.”
We published an update on the renewal of Giroud on Friday, stating that it is one of Milan’s priorities together with that of Leao. In the coming days, the Rossoneri management will meet with the player’s agent to discuss the terms of the extension.
Giroud’s agent is planning to ask for a slight increase in salary to recognise the impact he has had and the important goals scored, and Paolo Maldini could well accept that demand.
