Olivier Giroud put on a vintage display during the win over Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night with four goal contributions on the night, and a renewal is on the agenda.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) have published a report on Giroud starting with the comments from Zlatan Ibrahimovic yesterday. If the Swede speaks well of a player, it is because they are more than deserved compliments, and he praised the Frenchman in an interview with CanalPlus.

“Giroud absolutely deserves to go to the World Cup with France, he is a winner and a serious person. He will never score 40 goals a year, but he brings something that others don’t. He’s not self-centered, he plays for everyone. When he arrived he gave a great hand and did great things,” he said.
Giroud has developed a knack for scoring big goals since he arrived at Milan in summer 2021 from Chelsea, and the most recent two arrived on Wednesday evening at San Siro in the 4-0 win over Salzburg, which got Milan into the round of 16 of the Champions League.
The paper adds that the Milan management are working to renew the 36-year-old’s contract which expires at the end of this season because Giroud enjoys great esteem both from the club and from the squad, so everyone would be happy if he penned an extension.
That includes Giroud himself, who is very happy at Milanello and there will therefore be no problems regarding reaching an agreement. However, any announcement could also be postponed to 2023 if the striker were to be called up by Deschamps for the next World Cup in Qatar.
