Giroud picks favourite Milan memory and reveals surprise position he used to play – video

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has revealed some interesting background about his past as an emergency defender, and also about his favourite memory at the club.

Giroud spoke alongside compatriot Pierre Kalulu in the second episode of the ‘Getting to know the Rossoneri’ series that Milan are doing on their social media channels in collaboration with club partner Sorare Sport, and his answers are below.

What is your favourite AC Milan memory?

“When we were 1-0 down in the derby against Inter and we won it, and I had the opportunity to score a brace.”

Who is your favourite AC Milan legend?

“Shevchenko.”

Who was your favourite player growing up?

“My favourite player was Shevchenko.”

What was the first position you ever played?

“When I was young, I started as a striker. But when the best defender was not in the team, the manager asked me to go and play as a defender.”

Are you a collector of anything?

“I’m not a big collector, but my sons like it.”

    The one player I wished he never left, especially when with couple more seasons he would have been the top scorer in Milan history.
