AC Milan will be without Olivier Giroud for Saturday’s game against Udinese meaning Stefano Pioli will not have one of his certainties in attack.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about Milan’s reliance on Giroud starting with how he is the top scorer in 2023 so far for the Rossoneri with three goals, and all of them came with his head.
The latest one came on Monday night against Salernitana and in this period (2023) no player has scored more headers in the ‘top five’ European leagues as the Frenchman is tied with Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Danilho Doekhi of Union Berlin.
Not only that, but Giroud is also the oldest outfield player to have scored at least eight goals in the ‘top five’ leagues (the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1). Finally, of these eight goals, seven have arrived at home in the league. Only Lautaro Martínez (8) and Osimhen (10) have more.
However, Giroud picked up a yellow in the last game and will be disqualified for the Udinese match, so it will be up to the coach Pioli to find the right replacement.
