Olivier Giroud has revealed that he received a message from none other than legendary AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko after the Scudetto win.
After huge goals against Inter, Napoli and Lazio throughout the second half of the season, it was only right that Giroud had a decisive say in the final round of action, netting a brace against Sassuolo that virtually secured a 19th league title for the Rossoneri.
The Frenchman spoke to Milan TV and recalled the emotions of his brace in Reggio Emilia, which essentially started the party.
“As I said weeks ago, the most important thing was to believe that we could do it. And we did it. Today I am very proud of this team and this team spirit that we have put into this end of the season, even with the euphoria of the fans,” he said.
“Shevchenko? He sent me a voice message. He was very happy for me and it was a great gift. I am proud and proud to have won a Scudetto like him and like many Milan players.”
