Sergio Conceiçao’s spell as AC Milan head coach officially began yesterday, and it was accompanied by a strong message from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, Conceicao has taken the place of his compatriot Paulo Fonseca. He has signed a contract until 2026 and will earn just over €1m until June, in addition to various bonuses based around qualifying for the next Champions League and winning a trophy.
His salary next season will rise to €3.5m, and yesterday he got to meet his new squad for the first time. After landing in Milan in the early afternoon together with his staff, the coach immediately went to Milanello to greet the team and lead the first training session.
In his first speech to the squad, Conceiçao underlined that he considers this Milan – in terms of the quality they have – a top team in Italy and Europe. He told everyone to believe in themselves and asked for a change of direction.
His first objective will be to ‘recover’ (especially mentally) players like Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao who had some problems with Fonseca. The entire Milan management were present to welcome him at Milanello, namely Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The latter, in particular, wanted to speak to the team to explain the decision to change coach and above all to spur on the group. The Swede gave a firm speech to the team, during which he admitted that Fonseca’s dismissal is a defeat for everyone, not just the Portuguese.
Ibra asked for an immediate change of attitude because nobody has any alibis or excuses now. It’s up to the players to react and bring results.

Definitely Fonzy lost the dressing room
More like RedBird lost the dressing room. At this point the players don’t even care who is the coach, unless it’s a powerhouse name like Klopp, Carletto or Conte which it won’t anytime in the near future. When the club was managed badly during the early Banter-era, Allegri was 14-th when he was fired. Then he went on to become one of the best coaches in Europe when working with proper resources. We’re trying to somehow go around the necessary groundwork. It’s recipe for disaster.
Not only Theo and Rafa…Tomori, who is great defender disappeared under Fonseca,Pavlović too, didnt made to upgrade his positional play since August, that is unbeliveable.Calabria is side lined,we got antitalent Emerson on RB,completely useless typ of player(I never liked Calabria, but Emerson is a clown!).With Leao and Puli on wings our Nr.9 are not able to score, they got no balls at all….that is a thaeter!Fofana + Tijani are fantastic….if they were not bought in sommer ACM would be on bottom. But they can not play alone.Jović,RLC,Okafor,Chuki…as good as useless.Himenez top…It is enough world class material at ACM for top result,we have at least 6 world class players…what do you need more for good result?Fonseca wanted to train discipline instead of efective tactics.I just hope Conceisao will be different.Honestly…I got a good feeling about him.Lets see
Tomori was a great defender only in Scudetto season. After he was and is a disaster… So bench is well deserved place for him given his performance
Tomori is no spring chicken either, he’s 27. He’s had one great season in his entire career.
Milan should have sold Theo and even Leao during the summer for a huge amount of money and bought a top offensive player, like Gyöteres and a top right defender. We would have been in a much better position now. Happy new year!
Thank god you are not the chief at Milan. Gyokores doesn’t do wonders at Sporting right now as Amorim is at United
Ibra is best suited for circus ole! On second thoughts they will probably reject him! Redbird has no credibility left and any fan who loves this club should see that! But most won’t.
I need Ancelotti as coach in June that set.
I hope Conceicao pulled Ibra aside and told him “the only way this is gonna work is if you stay the F**K out of my way”, Kitty Cat.
