AC Milan’s form on the field is generating positive headlines, and away from the pitch the management are working on some renewals.

With the team top of the table and currently on course to at least get back into the Champions League – albeit with 31 games of a long league season to go – it is a good time to sit down with key players and discuss the future, with a naturally more optimistic outlook.

Latest on three renewals

Calciomercato.com have provided an update on three negotiations, starting with Mike Maignan. His deal expires next July and there has been no recent contact, so he’s likely headed toward an end-of-season departure.

Onto the good news. Fikayo Tomori has established a positive rapport with Massimiliano Allegri and his staff while his performances have continued to improve. Allegri himself has endorsed the idea of renewing the English defender’s contract and talks are at an early stage, but are going well.

Speaking to SportMediaset on Wednesday, Tomori confirmed that he is very open to extending his contract, even if for the time being it is not something that is imminent.

“As I’ve always said since I arrived, Milan is a great club, and until the management tells me ‘Enough is enough,’ I’m staying here; I have a home here.

“Honestly, I haven’t thought too much about renewing my contract, because I want to focus on the next match the way the manager wants. Then, when they ask me about my contract, I’ll think about it.”

The negotiations with Alexis Saelemaekers are more advanced, with the Belgian winger expected to shortly extend his contract for another two seasons, until 2029. Dialogue is progressing quickly to extend a player who is proving to be increasingly important to the team.

The top five players in terms of minutes used this season includes Tomori – who leads with 775 minutes – followed by Saelemaekers in second, who is not far behind on 738 minutes.

      1. He’s got years left and is enjoying his life in Milan. Why would he leave? I don’t see him as a “money-grabbing egoist” hungry for more dough.

    1. Big fax. This guy is too good honestly I would not mind him even be our starter when Mike leaves the kid has a bright future

    2. Torriani even not in the first team bench warmer. I think allegri have some different view. He maybe wants to introduce our 3rd GK, Pittarella 😅😀

      1. Torriani is not on the first team bench because he is the starting goalkeeper of Milan Futuro in the last few weeks.
I guess it is better to play instead of sitting in the bench.

  1. Tomori with Salemaekers make the right wing look good right now.
Also, Tomori’s crosses have been good and he could’ve had more assists if we were sharp enough inside the box.

At the same time, is he good enough for Champions League next year as a starter? Maybe as a reserve but what will his salary be? And of course, it is cheaper to renew with more salary than buying someone new.
And he has performed well this year with Allegri as a coach.

With Salemaekers being so versatile, we have a player who can bring good performances both offensively and defensively. Hopefully, with the playing time he gets now he can take another step forward in his development the way he did last season.
A good player who will get playing time since he can be used in two positions.

Pulisic is a must to renew. Now! We are on top of the league and he is injured now. Do it now. Don’t wait like you did with Theo and Maignan last year at this time.

Maignan seems hurt since Milan left the negotiations last year. He can earn a lot more money somewhere else now so he will probably not renew unless he loves Milan.
